Ingarö is a part of Värmdö, a county that consist of ten thousand islands, there is actually no mainland at all. Many of them are very small or even tiny, some are scarcely populated or not inhabited at all. The larger islands are connected with bridges and therefore got the bulk part of the population in the county. Ingarö with about 3 000 inhabitants is one of those larger islands. During summer the population multiplies. Gustavsberg is the main town in the county. It is famed for the porcelain manufacturer named after the town. In Gustavsberg you’ll find shops, post office, museums, healthcare, pharmacy and Systembolaget. The latter an outlet in the chain of liquor stores run by the Swedish state.
Strömmabåtarna gives easy access to the world famous Stockholm archipelago. Take one of the company’s boats from Ingarö kyrka, the islands church, to Sandhamn, an island further out in the string of islands. A very nice daytrip indeed! Or why not make the trip in the other direction? Waxholmsbolaget operates through out the archipelago and if you get on to one of their boats at Stavsnäs it can take you all the way into down town Stockholm.
Stockholm is easily reach by car or buss. There is a bus that stops just a kilometre and a half from Ingarö Havscamping.
Golfers are well provided for. There are four courses nearby. The closest is not far away at all - the course is seen from the camping site. |
